Mobile, Ala., residents took part recently in a video promoting EADS’ tanker program. The video touts all the American jobs that will go to Mobile and other places if the Airbus subsidiary outbids Boeing for the Air Force refueling tanker contract.

You can find out more about those jobs on EADS’ website under “Communiqués de Presse.” Recherché 21 Octobre 2010, s’il vous plait.

Meanwhile, the Air Force seems likely to delay awarding the replacement for its aging KC-135 tanker yet again.

It seems there are still people on the planet who were alive when the last KC-135 was produced, and the Air Force doesn’t have the heart to do away with the last vestige of their youth.

Pinching pennies: The IRS is no longer going to be sending paper forms directly to taxpayers. Instead, it will push more people to file their tax returns electronically.

The practice will save the IRS $10 million a year. That sounds like a lot, but unless the IRS hides that money in an offshore account, it’s going to take a beating when it files its tax returns.
