EDMONDS — Madeline Kasper was a perfect 6-for-6 from the field, including 5-for-5 from 3-point territory as Edmonds-Woodway (1-0) opened its season with a 78-50 nonleague girls basketball win over Shorecrest (0-1).

“We got off to a slow start and Shorecrest played great and shot the ball well in the first quarter,” Edmonds-Woodway head coach Duane Hodges said. “But in the second quarter Shorecrest got fatigued and had to sub which enabled us to capitalize on (our) press.”

Kasper hit four of her five 3-point field goals in the second quarter.

“We were only up two at half and we really turned it on in the third quarter,” Hodges added.

Angela Woods scored 11 of her 21 points in the third quarter for Edmonds-Woodway, and did not play the fourth quarter.

Janie Uppinghouse led Shorecrest with 15 point and Brianne Lasconia added 13.
