Prep boys basketball: Edmonds-Woodway 54, Meadowdale 44

EDMONDS — Edmonds-Woodway used a team effort to earn a 54-44 nonleague win over Meadowdale on Saturday night at Edmonds-Woodway High School.

The win, in which the Warriors (3-2 overall) had 11 players see floor time with nine scoring points, snapped a two-game losing streak.

Senior forward Zack Berg scored a team-high 16 points for Edmonds-Woodway, who opened up an 11-point lead after three quarters.

“We came out in the second half and some things started to click on offense,” Edmonds-Woodway head coach Todd Rubin said. “Even though the scoring might’ve looked slow paced, it was pretty intense. We just started to take care of the ball and be confident in what we were doing.”

Spencer Linton scored a game-high 20 points for Meadowdale (1-4), but the Warriors defense helped limit 6-6 senior forward Tyce Tallman to just five points by using different defenders on the dangerous wing.

“We had multiple guys guard him,” said Rubin, listing Scott Douglas and Josh Jordan as the main players. “They just played solid defense on him.”

Jordan added nine points and Douglas had six as Edmonds-Woodway received strong efforts up and down the lineup.

“There were a lot of guys on our team that contributed tonight,” Rubin said. “We played 11 guys and everybody really contributed.”

The Warriors, who are 0-1 in league play, resume play next week with league games against Cascade and Mariner — both at home.
