EDMONDS — Edmonds-Woodway took advantage of its second-chance opportunities and coasted to a 76-44 nonleague win over Meadowdale on Saturday night at Edmonds-Woodway High School.

Angela Woods scored a game-high 20 points and Sydney Donaldson added 10 points, 15 rebounds and six blocks as the Warriors (4-2 overall) grabbed 23 offensive rebounds while winning the battle of the boards 47-18 against the Mavericks (2-3).

“We moved the ball real well,” Edmonds-Woodway head coach Duane Hodges said. “Which is what you have to do against their zone.”

Meadowdale’s aggressive trapping zone defense couldn’t slow E-W as the Warriors made the extra pass and found open shooters, Hodges said. “We hit open shots,” the coach said.

Madeline Kasper, a 5-foot-5 junior guard, contributed 13 points and helped keep Meadowdale’s outside shooting threat Margreet Barhoum fairly contained.

“We wanted to keep the lid on her,” Hodges said of Barhoum, who entered the contest averaging just more than 20 points per game. “We did a decent job, she got just two points in the second half.”

Woods scored 10 points in a big second-quarter burst for the Warriors, who play the Melbourne (Australia) Tigers at 7 p.m. tomorrow at E-W. The 5-10 senior added six assists overall.

Seyi Olajoyegbe contributed 10 points for Edmonds-Woodway.
