Tots in Toyland 2.0

Published 5:35 pm Saturday, December 18, 2010

The little lad’s iPad: If you still have some toy shopping to do, we’ve got a list of the top high-tech toys. Kids, 3 to 7 years old, might enjoy their own touch-screen e-reader: the Fisher-Price IXL 6-in-1 Learning System for $90.

Just when did little kids develop the skills to use an e-reader? When The Buzz was a tyke it took us years to master the complexities of the Slinky.

Silly rabbit, tweets are for twits: Pre-teen heart-throb and post-Beatle mop-top Justin Bieber hit Twitter’s list of top 10 “most retweeted tweets” not once but three times, including his No. 4 Tweet, “Te quiero mucho mi amor.”

While we’re impressed that Justin was able to copy a phrase out of his “Español Para Niños” textbook from his Spanish I class, what we’re really puzzling over is why anyone’s tweets merit retweeting. To wit: How many tweets could a twit retweet, if a twitterpated twit tweeted wit?

Don’t know much about history: On this day in 1843, Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol” was first published in England.

Dickens had written it years before, but his original idea to send the book out as a series of tweets failed to catch on with London readers who quickly tired of following 140-character snippets delivered by carrier pigeon.
