Prep girls basketball: Mariner 42, Lakewood 36

MARYSVILLE — For the second consecutive night, the Lakewood girls were shutout in the third quarter in what would prove to be the turning point in the game. This time the Cougars were tied with Mariner 21-21 coming out of the break, yet the Marauders outscored them 9-0. Mariner would hold on from there to earn the win at the Lakewood Tournament. Mariner’s Jayde McFerrin finished with 16 points to lead the Marauders to their first win of the tournament. Caitlyn Darrah led the Cougars with 15 points.
