The right foot

As always, the start of the year is a time for resolutions. Here are a few to get you started:

1. Stop saying that: “Viral,” as in spreading rapidly around the Internet, topped an annual list of words that ought to be banned for overuse or misu

se.

The movement to ban “viral” picked up a lot of momentum online as people spread the word. It really went … um … let’s say bacterial.

2. Don’t go anywhere: In a poll of travelers, the Transportation Security Administration gave the worst customer service in 2010. The TSA’s scans and pat-downs made it even more universally loathed than airlines.

The airlines won’t settle for second. Expect them to bounce back this year when they add surcharges for each breath of air taken during flights.

3. Beware of your friends: Having suckered everyone they can with e-mail scams, criminals are turning to Facebook for ways to steal money.

The scammers like to pose as old high school buddies and then hit you up for cash. Actual Facebook friends like to pose as old high school buddies and then hit you up to feed their sheep.
