The Boeing Co. delivered 462 aircraft in 2010 and nabbed 530 net orders for the year.
Although deliveries were down from 2009, as expected, Boeing said Thursday that it had met its delivery goal of 460 to 465 aircraft deliveries. The company had scaled back production due to the recession and, therefore, delivered fewer jets than last year when it handed over 481 aircraft.
“With 376 deliveries in 2010, the Next-Generation 737 set a company delivery record for the second consecutive year,” said Jim Albaugh, president and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, in a statement.
Boeing delivered 74 777s and 12 767s in 2010.
Boeing’s rival, Airbus, has not released its final 2010 numbers, however, the European jet maker had delivered 461 aircraft through the end of November.
As usual, the 737 led the way in orders in 2010 with 486 net orders in 2010. The Everett-built 777 received 46 net orders for the year and the 767 had three.
Both Boeing’s 787 and 747 jets ended the year with negative orders. Those aircraft programs have both been delayed.
At the end of November, Airbus had 388 net orders.
