Pick of The Week: Washington Sportsmen’s Show, Puyallup

The 24th annual Washington Sportsmen’s Show comes to the Western Washington fairgrounds in Puyallup on Wednesday and runs through Jan. 30. Ticket prices are $12 for adults, $5 for juniors 6-16, and free for children 5 and under. Discount coupons good for $2 off adult admission any day of the show are available at participating Baxter Auto Parts and Les Schwab locations, or at the show’s website, www.otshows.com.

Hours are noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday through Friday (Jan. 26-28); 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday (Jan. 29); and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday (Jan. 30). Parking is free.

The show features more than 150 hours of free seminars, including fresh and saltwater fishing, coldwater and warmwater species, fly tying, elk calling, rifle and bow hunting and more. For a complete seminar schedule, go to the above website.

Other features include a kid’s free trout pond, where children 12 and under can catch and keep, or release; the popular Head & Horns competition; the Lowrance Learning Center, where participants can learn by doing with the latest in HD Sonar and New Structure Scan; Dockdogs competition; the one-of-a-kind indoor steelhead river; the warmwater demo tank, with ongoing demonstrations of warmwater lures and techniques, and a lot more.
