Growth pills
Take two Concentrus: The Economic Development Council of Snohomish County and the chambers of commerce from Everett and Snohomish County have recently merged to provide a more powerful voice for business in the region. The group has pitched itself as Project Concentrus and
the Economic Vitality Enterprise.
Both of which sound as if they should come with a warning: Contact your Fed chairman if economic growth causes inflation to last longer than four months.
Primitive as can be: An Australian single mom has written a book about the six months during which she unplugged her teenagers from the Internet, TV, iPods, cell phones and video games. Her book describes the outcomes of the electronic blackout: The kids read more, got better grades and became focused logical thinkers.
It did take a while for the kids to adjust. For a few days, anytime the kids were having a good time, they kept looking for a “like” button to push.
S-E-N-D-N-A-C-H-O-S: Everett Silvertips fans and others attending events at Comcast Arena can now send a cell phone text to arena staff if they want to report a problem or concern to building management (Page B3).
Those who have voluntarily given up electronic media will be provided semaphore flags with which to signal staff.
