Reader poll: Western Conference heavies

Published 11:14 am Monday, January 24, 2011

When the Silvertips travel to Spokane on Wednesday it will be the second time in three weeks that Everett has run the gauntlet, facing the Western Conference’s top three teams consecutively.

Portland, Spokane and Tri-City have separated themselves from the pack in the Western Conference and appear destined to duke it out for the conference title over the season’s final three months. Here’s where they currently sit in the standings:

Portland — 32-14-0-3, 67 points, .684 winning percentage
Spokane — 29-12-4-2, 64 points, .681 winning percentage
Tri-City — 29-13-2-1, 61 points, .678 winning percentage

Because of games in hand the three teams are in a virtual dead heat. No other team in the conference has more than 55 points or a winning percentage greater than .574.

So which of those three teams emerges on top? And if you think it’s going to be someone else, let us know who and why in the comments section.
