I Can Has Cheezburger wasn’t for sale, I guess: Struggling Internet pioneer AOL has purchased the news aggregator and opinion website Huffington Post for $315 million in a bid to bring in more traffic and advertising.

Among Arianna Huffington’s new duties at AOL, she’ll record the greeting for AOL’s e-mail service so subscribers hear Huffington’s Zsa Zsa Gabor voice saying “You’ve got mail, dahling.”

It’s that or “Red Ink”: The governor and lawmakers are arguing over which routes the state’s new ferry Salish will serve as the state looks to trim costs. Among other cost controls, the governor has proposed that another ferry being built, and as yet unnamed, be kept out of service.

Among the names being considered for the destined-for-the-dock boat is the Coast Salish Indian phrase for “Beached Canoe.”

A lot to “Like”: An Egyptian executive for Google who created a Facebook page credited with inspiring Egyptian protesters to challenge the regime of President Hosni Mubarak was freed by authorities after 12 days in captivity.

If the Facebook community continues to find ways to use social networking to make the world a better place, we’re going to have to lay off the FarmVille jokes.
