Prep swimming: 2A District 1 prelims

ANACORTES — Archbishop Murphy’s Alec Barnard qualified first in two events during Friday’s prelims. Barnard set a meet record of 1 minute, 47.94 seconds in the 200-yard freestyle and swam a state meet qualifying time of 54.33 seconds in the 100 butterfly. He was also on two relay teams (200 medley and 200 freestyle) which qualified for today’s finals. Coupeville’s Cole Weinstein qualified third in the 500 freestyle with a state qualifying time of 5:09.15.
