Arlington a win from regional

MILL CREEK — Arlington used a first-half offensive flurry to pull away from Lake Stevens Friday at Jackson H.S., and the Vikings then held on through a sluggish second half to win 70-54 and advance to a winner-to-state game Tuesday at Newport, the No. 3 seed out of the KingCo 4A.

les, who improved to 18-6 overall, scored the game’s first six points, and then closed the opening quarter with a run of nine unanswered points to lead 23-10. And there was no letting up in the second period as Arlington kept knocking down shots on the way to a 50-25 halftime margin.

Lake Stevens opened the third quarter with an 8-2 burst, but Arlington kept the lead close to 20 points until the game’s waning minutes when the Vikings closed with another 10-2 scoring run.
