OLYMPIA – Those working to rebuild the Sultan Boys & Girls Club received news today the state may help them out with $500,000.

House Democrats penciled the dollars into their proposed $3.1 billion capital budget for the next biennium.

If it survives action in the House and Senate, the money could go a long way toward constructing a new complex to replace what burned down last Christmas Eve.

There was other good news in the proposal put out today.

It steers $37.6 million to Everett Community College for replacing Index Hall with a new three-story building for nursing and health science students, $110,000 for the Legion Park Visitors Center and Trailhead Project in Arlington and $500,000 for the Camano Community Health Clinic.

A public hearing on the spending proposal is set for 8 a.m. Tuesday in the House Capital Budget committee with action by the panel as early as Wednesday.
