Prep boys soccer: Shorecrest 1, Shorewood 0 (shootout)

SHORELINE — Ian Adams drilled the game’s final penalty kick to give Shorecrest a Wesco3A boys soccer victory over Shorewood in a match between two teams with title aspirations.
The 4-3 shootout advantage gives Shorecrest (12-1 league, 14-1 overall, 34 points) a shot at knocking undefeated Glacier Peak (12-0, 14-0, 35) off it’s perch atop the league standings when the two teams play at Shoreline Stadium Monday night. If they are to finish first, the Scots also need Shorewood (9-3, 10-4, 30 points) to defeat the Grizzlies when those teams end their respective regular seasons later next week.
“It puts us in a position where we need some help to capture part of the league title,” Scots coach Drew Thompson said. “We need to win and we need some help.”
He was disappointed that the normally high-scoring Scots couldn’t end it in regulation.
“I thought we played a very good game,” Thompson said. “I thought we dominated most of the play, but we just couldn’t finish.”
Joe Schober, Glen Paden and Henry Wingo all converted their penalty tries for Shorecrest. Ellis Miyouka, Tanner Jones and Hamza Haddadi converted for Shorewood. Simon Aspinal recorded a PK save for Shorewood in goal and Sam Schober did the samee for Shorecrest.
