Lakewood High School football standout Dustin Stanton reportedly has made a verbal commitment to play at Oregon State University.
CBSSports.com said Stanton made his decision Wednesday. The 6-foot-4, 210-pound tight end/linebacker will be a senior this fall.
Stanton was named to The Herald’s 2010 All-Area second-team offense. He also was an All-Cascade Conference second-team selection at tight end and defensive line. He made 19 receptions for 291 yards and four touchdowns, and averaged 7.3 tackles per game, according to MaxPreps.com.
Oregon State made a scholarship offer to Stanton last month, Lakewood coach Dan Teeter said.
Stanton’s decision won’t be official until he signs an NCAA letter of intent. Football recruits in the high school class of 2012 can’t sign until next February.
