PICK OF THE WEEK: Lake Bosworth Trout Fishing

Any of the local trout lakes which performed well on last weekend’s opener should repeat this weekend, but if you don’t have a personal favorite, Lake Bosworth might be worth a shot. Lying three miles south of Granite Falls, Bosworth was one of the better lakes in the county on opening day, and according to avid local angler Sam Ingram, there are still plenty of rainbow there to be had. Ingram said he was on the lake for three or four hours Tuesday morning and hooked maybe 25 trout on a variety of gear. None of the fish were large – going 9 or 10 inches – but they were very cooperative, Ingram said.
He trolled a nickel-back frog Dick Nite spoon; an F4 Flatfish in rainbow trout pattern; a small brown wet fly; and a Wedding Ring spinner with a GULP grub, and caught fish on all of them. The bonus, he said, was a lack of other anglers on the lake.
Ingram said anyone looking for larger fish should consider Lake Tye, on the west edge of Monroe along Fryelands Boulevard. Plenty of multi-pound triploids left there after the big kids’ fish-in on Sunday.
