Arlington: Facebook program for parents
The Arlington Library offers a program for parents who want to learn how Facebook works and how to help their children protect their privacy and make good choices online.
At the end of the program, parents can get help creating their own Facebook pages.
Taught by teen librarian Jocelyn Redel and children’s librarian Lesla Ojeda, the class begins at 7 tonight at the library, 135 N. Washington Ave.

Camano Island: Learn about frogs Wednesday
Thayer Cueter, curator of Just Frogs and Toads Too, an amphibian rescue and advocacy foundation, plans to talk about frogs at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Camano Multipurpose Center, 141 E. Camano Drive.
Meet some of Thayer’s frog friends and discover why it is important to preserve their habitat.
The presentation is by the Camano Wildlife Habitat Project, sponsored by Friends of Camano Island Parks as part of the Island County watershed project.

Darrington: Business group open to public
Darrington Area Business Association is scheduled to meet at 7 tonight at the Cascade Senior Center, 1115 Darrington St. The public is welcome.

Lake Stevens: Spring Cleaning Day set
The city’s annual Spring Cleaning Day is set for Saturday.
Residents may bring most of their items they typically take to the dump and dispose of them for free from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the back parking lot at Cavelero Mid High School. City residents must provide identification with their name and address.
Hazardous waste including paints and chemicals will not be accepted at this year’s event. A $25 fee will be charged for the disposal of refrigerators. TVs, computers, laptops and monitors will be accepted at no charge. Shred It paper shredding service is set to accept personal papers for free shredding while Les Schwab Tire Center is planning to accept up to 10 old tires per household at no charge.
Dry food items for the Lake Stevens Food Bank will be collected at the event. A free boating safety inspection by a member of the Lake Stevens Marine Patrol also is scheduled in the school’s front parking lot at 8220 24th St. SE.

Lakewood: Purrfect Pals to offer adoptions
Purrfect Pals, a nonprofit cat rescue organization based near Arlington, plans to offer cat adoptions from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at Lake Ki Resort, 2904 Lakewood Road.
In addition, the organization offers a fundraising plant sale Friday through Sunday at the resort.

Marysville: Driving class for seniors
The Ken Baxter Community Center is taking registrations for a defensive driving course open to adults age 55 and older.
The course is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 1 and 2 at Marysville Fire Station 66, 7217 40th St. NE. The class costs $12 for AARP members and $14 for nonmembers.

Stanwood: Senior center fashion show
Stanwood Senior and Community Center offers a tea luncheon and fashion show fundraiser from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the center, 7430 276th St. NW.
Cost is $15 or $10 for children. Tickets are available at Snowgoose Bookstore or at the center
