I know we promised, but … : California preacher and ultimate event planner Howard Camping revealed Monday that his prophecy that Saturday was Judgment Day wasn’t wrong, just off by five months. Camping now says the Rapture will occur Oct. 21.

The Buzz, being no fool, is going to be a little more skeptical this time out. But if the Mariners win the American League pennant we’ll reconsider.

Everyone’s a comic: The marketing agent for the comic strip Dilbert has partnered with a website that will allow you to substitute a photo of your head or that of your friends for characters in the strip, including Dilbert, Wally and Alice.

The advantage here is that you’ll no longer get in trouble for misuse of the office copier when you substitute your boss’ face for that of the Pointy-Haired Boss.

Don’t know much about history: On this day in 1844, Samuel F. B. Morse sent the first electrical message from Washington, D.C., to Baltimore, tapping out the famous question: “What hath God wrought?”

The reply to Morse read: “God says to call it the telegraph.”
