Platinum power

Looks like we have a definite class warfare winner: frequent fliers. Not only do they get better food and more comfy seats, but they also can ignore a lot of those airline rules that make ordinary travelers’ lives hell, columnist Christopher Elliott writes.

If this unfair situation persists, the airlines will need to install those post-9/11 reinforced cockpit doors between the coach and first-class cabins.

Keep it in the family: A Canadian couple who publicized their decision to keep their new baby’s gender a secret say they’re having a hard time shielding their three children from public scrutiny.

Measures they’ve taken so far include: 1. Give an interview to Canada’s largest-circulation newspaper. 2. Pose for news photographers, kids included. 3. Give an interview to the Associated Press, the world’s largest news organization.

At this rate, the couple’s next protective action will involve a reality TV show co-starring that balloon boy’s family.

Great outdoors: Families can learn the fine art of camping at an upcoming event at Thornton A. Sullivan Park in Everett.

Topics to be covered include pitching a tent, cooking over an open fire and correct placement of a flashlight under the chin while telling a scary story.
