Ceiling whacks, cabbages and kings

There, I fixed it: With potential default looming hours away, congressional leaders and President Barack Obama struck a deal Sunday to raise the debt ceiling in a compromise that pleased few but will push the government’s ability to borrow out until 2013.

Not surprisingly, the deal closely resembles a college student’s attempt to fix a crack in the ceiling: lots of duct tape, toothpaste and a Farrah Fawcett poster over the whole mess.

Just be careful of the ceiling: An Arlington couple have opened an “air park” filled with trampolines available for fun, fitness and entertainment. Seeking a business opportunity when they moved their drywall company to Marysville, the couple said they were intrigued by the idea of using their empty warehouse for a trampoline park.

Had Congress not come to an agreement to raise the debt ceiling, the U.S. Capitol building would have been vacant and available for a trampoline air park franchise.
