Notes:

– 16-year-old center Ryan Chynoweth, Everett’s top pick in the 2010 bantam draft, left his morning game after getting hit in the jaw with a puck. He was held out the rest of the day for precautionary purposes.

– The big standout today was Ryan Harrison. The returning 19-year-old center was flying all over the place and was well worth his three goals.

– Another player who had a big day was 16-year-old center Carson Stadnyk. Stadnyk may have improved the most among Everett’s prospects from last year’s training camp to this year’s. He’s not really a candidate to make the team this year as he’s still very slight, but he’s put himself right into contention for 2012-13.

– 16-year-old listed defenseman Cole MacDonald may have had the goal of the day, a breathtaking play on which he scooped up the puck in his own half, blazed through the opposing defense and wired a shot into the corner at full speed for GREEN’s late gamewinner this morning.

– The goaltending continues to be strong, despite the absence of Kent Simpson. Luke Siemens still looks in midseason form, and the young goalies have held up remarkably well, especially since they’re being confronted by the vets as well as the other rookies. I can only think of one bad goal given up by a goaltender through two days, and I doubt I would have been able to say anything like that during Everett’s previous training camps.

Finally, I’ve decided not to live blog from camp tomorrow. We’ve had so few good days this summer here in the northwest that I’d feel guilty tying anyone down to their computer on a sunny Saturday. So go out and play in the sun, or else come down to the rink yourself to get a first-hand look.
