Goaltending update, plus a reader poll

First off, I received a text message from Tips general manager Doug Soetaert late last night that informed me that goaltender Andy Desautels has been reassigned to the SJHL.
That leaves the Tips with three goaltenders, 19-year-olds Kent Simpson and Luke Siemens and 16-year-old Austin Lotz. Lotz didn’t really seem to be in the mix when training camp began, but he played well in training camp and has held his own during preseason action, so perhaps he’s now a viable option as Everett’s back-up netminder this season.
Which brings us to this week’s poll question. Everett finished out the weekend with six 16-year-olds still on its roster, which was down to 29 players total. That group includes Lotz, forwards Michael Bell, Ryan Chynoweth and Michael Urbaniak, and defensemen Austin Adam and Tye Hand, who are all 16.
Everett is going with the youth movement this season, but keeping six 16-year-olds, who are all subject to the 40-game rule, seems like a lot. What do you think?
How many 16-year-olds will make the Silvertips’ opening-night roster?
