MARYSVILLE — Lakewood goalkeeper Miranda Head is one of the best around, not much gets by her. But on Tuesday, the one that did was enough.

The Cedarcrest Red Wolves defeated the Cougars 1-0 behind freshman Karli White’s unassisted goal in the 75th minute.

“We got beat by a really good goal,” Lakewood head coach Jeremiah Wohlgemuth said. “Miranda didn’t have a chance.”

For the Cougars, it was a tale of two halves. Lakewood (0-1-0 league, 1-1-0 overall) got nine shots on goal in the first half, but Cedarcrest (1-0-0, 3-0-0) goalkeeper Nichole Pearson didn’t see a single shot in the second half.

“It was definitely a game of two different halves,” Wohlgemuth said. “They came out in the second half with a lot more spirit and energy.”
