EDMONDS — Giavani Shepard and Kyle Newsom combined to rush for 233 yards and four touchdowns as Meadowdale beat its district rival Edmonds-Woodway in a nonconference game.
Shepard did all of his damage early, running for scores of 53, 1 and 1 to help the Mavericks bust out to a 21-0 lead after a scoreless first quarter.
Edmonds-Woodway tried to battle back in the second half after Desmond Young scored from eight yards out following a Meadowdale turnover. But Meadowdale, behind the running of Newsom, who scored on a 2-yard run in the third quarter, grinded out the clock to preserve the win.
