Hearing for proposed strip club: A businessman trying to open a strip club on Mukilteo Speedway has filed an appeal with the Snohomish County Hearing Examiner over the county’s denial of his adult-business license application.
Robert Noriega is scheduled to present his case to the hearing examiner at 1 p.m. Tuesday. The Auditor’s Office has filed a motion for dismissal.
In June, the Auditor’s Office denied Noriega’s application to open the business called the Black Pearl at 10924 Mukilteo Speedway, just outside Mukilteo city limits. The county ruled that a strip club could not operate there because it would be too close to existing restaurants that sell alcohol by the drink. In July, the county declined Noriega’s request to reconsider the decision.
Conference for women: The17th Annual Women Writing the West conference is planned for Oct. 14 through 16 at Embassy Suites, 20610 44th Ave. W. in Lynnwood. Keynote speakers are Nancy Pearl and Ellen Waterston.
