MUKILTEO — Police continue to search for two men believed to be connected to Monday’s shooting that wounded a Mukilteo man.

The victim, 24, told police that he was taking out the trash when he was confronted by a man on his front doorstep. The suspect pulled a handgun from his coat and pointed the gun at the victim’s head. He demanded to be let inside.

The victim told police he grabbed the pistol and struggled with the man.

He said he noticed a second suspect standing in the middle of the street. That man fired a warning shot into the air. The Mukilteo man said he continued to struggle with the first suspect. That’s when the second man shot him from behind, the victim said. The bullet struck the man’s buttocks.

The two suspects were last seen leaving in a red or maroon Dodge Magnum.

The victim was rushed to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. He has since been released.

The first suspect is described as a black man in his mid-20s to mid-30s. He’s about 5 feet, 10 inches tall and weighs about 180 pounds. Police didn’t provide a description of the suspected shooter.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Mukilteo Police Department at 425-263-8100.
