Knights help disabled
Members of the Everett Knights of Columbus Council 763 will take part in a statewide “Tootsie Roll Drive” fundraiser Friday through Sunday.
They aim to help those with disabilities.
“Every nickel, dime and dollar is needed and will be deeply appreciated,” drive coordinator Steve Palmer said.
Volunteers will be at locations throughout Everett and will be easily visible with bright yellow aprons, collection canisters and lots of Tootsie Rolls.
Council 763 received the fraternal organization’s Columbian Award last year for its involvement in service programs. The council has been contributing to local charities since 1903.
Boat launch is closed: The boat launch and parking lot at Lighthouse Park in Mukilteo is closed this week for repaving and striping.
The closure might last through Friday. Boaters will have no access to the park during that time.
Limited parking will be available near the volleyball courts and cul-de-sac in the park.
Fire district open house: Snohomish County Fire District 7 in Clearview is hosting its 25th annual open house.
The free event is planned from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday at district headquarters at 8010 180th St. SE in Snohomish.
There will be demonstrations of how firefighters cut people out of cars after accidents. Visitors can tour fire engines and a fire safety trailer, meet Topper, Snohomish County’s arson-investigation dog, and enjoy a puppet show.
