Decorate: Riverside Halloween contest
Everett’s Riverside neighborhood is sponsoring its second annual Halloween decorating contest.
The theme this year is jack-o’-lanterns and spiders. People in the neighborhood are invited to nominate their home or a neighbor’s in the following categories: best daytime decorations, best nighttime, scariest and best block.

Bid: Auction to benefit seniors
East County Senior Center is hosting its annual benefit auction Saturday.
The auction is the center’s main fundraiser, with food and hundreds of live and silent auction items. It starts at 5 p.m. at Echo Falls Golf Club, 20414 121st Ave. SE, Snohomish.
Tickets are $60.

Learn: Talk on breast cancer
Everett doctor James Congdon is scheduled to speak Friday about advances in the understanding of breast cancer and new treatment methods.
The Women in Motion event is planned from 6 to 8 p.m. at French Creek Manor, 9931 167th Ave. SE, Snohomish.
Women in Motion is a monthly women’s networking event sponsored by small business advocate GROW Washington.

See: Salmon hatchery tours
The Wallace River salmon hatchery tours are Nov. 7 through Nov. 10. The tours are sponsored by the Washington State University Snohomish County Extension 4-H program.
To celebrate the return of the salmon, the hatchery opens its doors to school groups and others who want to learn about the life cycle of the Pacific Northwest salmon.
The tours are scheduled from 9:30 to 11 a.m. and from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 14418 383rd Ave. SE, Sultan.

Crafts: Halloween party at library
All ages are welcome to hear spooky stories at the haunted Mukilteo library at 2 p.m. Oct. 29.
Make monster crafts, eat batty treats and wear costumes.
On Nov. 4, the library is hosting a movie matinee with a screening of Cars 2. Crafts are at 1 p.m., the movie is at 2 p.m.
