There could be a little “Louie Louie” and “Tequila” Saturday in Everett.
The Puget Sound Festival of Bands competition begins at 8:30 a.m. at Everett Memorial Stadium, 3802 Broadway, in Everett.
It’s hosted by Cascade High School.
Each band performs a “show” which is judged.
“There are several categories for judging including High Visual Effect, High Percussion, High Music, High General Effect, High Color Guard and Best Drum Major,” said Ann Grounds, photographer for the Cascade Sound Marching Band and Color Guard from Cascade High School.
A list of performances can be found at www.pugetsoundfestivalofbands.com. Marysville, Stanwood and Sultan are among the high schools that are first to perform between 8:40 a.m. and 9:30 a.m., Grounds said.
Kamiak High School is set to compete at 1:30 p.m., then several Spokane high schools take the field beginning at 2:54 p.m.
Cascade is scheduled to take the field at 3:54 p.m. The finals begin at 6 p.m.
“As far as when the public wants to attend, it depends on if they want to see the local bands or the best of the best,” Grounds said. “The finals would allow them to see the top bands.”
Tickets are $40 for two adults and two youth with additional youth tickets for $5; $15 adult all-day; $10 adult finals only; $9 senior, military, college students with identification; $7 ages 6 to 18; and free admission for those 5 and younger.
There will be concessions sold all day as well as a bake sale that will begin with scones, muffins, donuts and then cookies, cupcakes, brownies, and other desserts in the afternoon and evening.
