Short wildfire season in Washington

SPOKANE — A relatively short fire season was good news for most people in Washington this year, but less so for a Spokane business.

Chewack Wildfire sends crews to help state and federal agencies fight wildfires.

Owner Todd Graves told KREM his crew worked only eight days this year. Three years ago he worked 80 days on wildfires as far away as California.

He says he’s happy when homes are spared, but he’s hoping to be busier next summer.
