MUKILTEO — No one was seriously injured after a Tuesday night crash involving a Mukilteo police officer.

The officer was northbound on the Mukilteo Speedway about 6 p.m., making a left onto 92nd Street SW when his patrol car collided with a southbound vehicle, Mukilteo Police Chief Rex Caldwell said.

The officer was taken to a local hospital to be checked over. He was expected to be released later Tuesday night.

The people in the other vehicle weren’t seriously injured.

At the time of the crash, the officer was on his way to investigate a reported assault, Caldwell said.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Mukilteo police asked the Washington State Patrol to investigate because one of the city’s officers was involved.

The crash restricted traffic in the area for some time, state transportation officials said.
