LYNNWOOD — Branson Barnecut went 2-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI to help lead Glacier Peak to a to a 5-2 Wesco 3A victory over Meadowdale on Friday.
Glacier Peak’s big inning came in the second inning, an inning that began with a lead off double from Keenan Miller and was followed with a walk to Jimmy Ewing. Josh May connected for a two-RBI double and Josh Brewer had a RBI single to complete the three-run third.
A key play in the game came in the bottom of the sixth. Meadowdale had pulled to within two runs, with runners on second and third with two outs when Sam Herzer connected on a line drive. But unfortunately for the Mavs the ball ended up hitting squarely on relief pitcher Christian Jarnagin’s ankle and ricocheted directly to the Glacier Peak first baseman, helping the Grizzles maintain a 4-2 lead going into the final inning.
The Mavericks were paced by Matt Hirsch, who went 1-for-3, and Herzer, who ended up going 1-for-4 with an RBI double.
