Spring cleaning? Don’t forget fridge
The Snohomish County Public Utility District is encouraging customers to ditch older appliances in favor of more energy efficient models by offering a $30 voucher as well as free pickup and recycling of the older unit.
Appliances must be in working condition and 10 to 32 cubic feet in size.

Tips when calling 911
Southwest Snohomish County Communications Center (SNOCOM) is promoting awareness and use of the 911 system during National 9-1-1 Education Month.
Staff remind the public that a text message will not reach local dispatchers. When calling 911, be prepared to tell the dispatcher the where, what and who of the emergency. Stay on the line and remain calm.
SNOCOM serves Fire District 1 as well as the cities of Brier, Edmonds, Lynnwood, Mill Creek, Mountlake Terrace, Mukilteo and the town of Woodway. More information is at www.snocom.org.
BUSINESS NEWS
Hotel goes green
The Embassy Suites Seattle North/Lynnwood hotel is starting environmental sustainability programs through a partnership with Hilton Hotels Corporation.
One program measures how sustainably the hotel operates, calculating energy usage in its systems. Another delivers discarded soaps to charity.
The hotel sends its food waste to a recycler, then buys back the resulting mulch to use in its indoor and outdoor plantings.
