Prep girls tennis: Snohomish 4, Edmonds-Woodway 3

SNOHOMISH — The Snohomish girls tennis team used its strength in numbers to beat Edmonds-Woodway in a Wesco crossover match. Despite losing the top three singles matches, the Panthers swept all three doubles matches to beat the Warriors.

“They’re a really strong team,” Edmonds-Woodway coach Dan Crist said of Snohomish. “They’re doubles teams are tough.”

Crist could take away one bright spot from the showdown as both matches that went three sets were won by Edmonds-Woodway players. Jane Hong dropped the second set 6-0 to Audrey Zahina, but returned in the third set to win 6-1 to take the match, while Hanna Rehnfeldt beat Alexis Stockwell 6-1, 4-6, 6-4.
