A few folks have called and Tweeted us today asking about helicopters seen over Monroe and the east Snohomish County area Tuesday night.

One person reported seeing the choppers between about 11:30 p.m. and 12:30 a.m. around Monroe, Maltby and Woodinville.

The helicopters were part of a military training exercise from Joint Base Lewis-McChord near Tacoma, according to local police.

They were unrelated to a small rescue effort in the Sultan Basin Road area. In that case, a man in his 20s was found safe and sound about 9:40 p.m. after being reported missing during a hunting excursion with a friends a couple of hours before, according to police.
