MANSON — A wind-whipped wildfire has burned across nearly 3 square miles of mainly grassland on Lake Chelan’s north shore.

KING-TV reported that about 250 firefighters were converging on the fire late Friday.

So far no structures have burned but dozens of residents have been alerted to the fire and warned that they might need to evacuate.

The Forest Service said the 25 Mile Fire started Thursday on private property across Lake Chelan from 25-Mile State Park. The fire is burning on both private land and Forest Service land.

The cause is under investigation.
