A heartwarming new musical based on a heartwarming 2003 movie, “Secondhand Lions,” opens Saturday at The 5th Avenue Theatre in Seattle.
The music and lyrics are by Alan Zachary and Michael Weiner, who also did the music for “First Date!” now open on Broadway.
In “Secondhand Lions,” a young boy is sent to live with his two old uncles for the summer on their farm in Texas.
What looks to be a boring time turns into an amazing adventure thanks to the uncles’ tall stories about princesses and pirates, and tales of treasure hunts and wild rescues.
Preview performances, when seats are cheaper, go through Sept. 25. The regular run is Sept. 26 through Oct. 6.
Tickets start at $29 and top out at $99.75 with evening performances Tuesdays through Sundays, and matinees on some Thursdays and every Saturday and Sunday.
Buy tickets at www.5thavenue.org or at the box office of the 5th Avenue Theatre, 1308 Fifth Ave., Seattle.
