TACOMA — The Jackson volleyball team’s struggles against Bellarmine Prep continued on Tuesday.

After defeating the Timberwolves in the semifinals of the 2012 4A volleyball state tournament, Bellarmine Prep made it two sweeps in a row after a 25-11, 25-18, 25-15 win on Tuesday.

Courtney Schwan had 13 kills, 10 digs and four aces and setter Natalie Jensen tallied 32 assists for the defending state champion Lions.

“Schwan is a dominant force, a smart player and just very impressive to watch,” said Jackson head coach Mindy Staudinger. “(Jensen) moves the ball around very well and is good at spreading the block.”

Hannah Hicks and Karen Blackmer each had five kills and Payton Locknane added six digs for the Timberwolves, who never really got into the match.

“Our troubles in serve-receive continued, we had a bit of a breakdown,” said Staudinger. “We had a bit of a breakdown. It was a very skilled team at Bellarmine, but we could’ve kept the game a lot closer if we had done a better job.”
