50 years ago (1963)

Marjorie Day, An Everett Junior College English instructor, would give an illustrated talk at the college on a recent trip to Asia, the Middle East and Europe with her husband, Russell, also a teacher at the college.

Helen M. Keller, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Donald RT. Keller, 11118 Colleen Dr., enlisted in the U.S.Women’s Army Corps. Following eight weeks of basic military subjects, she would be assigned to a specialized school or job training based on information gained through interviews and testing.

25 years ago (1988)

John Paxton, chairman of Intermec, a manufacturer of industrial equipment, drew cheers from plant workers when he unveiled a model and an artist’s rendition of the firm’s proposed new plant. The facility to be built on Seaway Boulevard would replace their operation off the Mukilteo Speedway.

Robert Henning of Alaska Northwest Publishing Co. in Edmonds had sold his Milepost, Northwest Milepost and Alaska Wilderness Milepost travel guides and more than 125 book titles to GTE Directories, a GTE Travel Enterprise. Henning would continue to produce Alaska Geographic Magazine.
