Santa breakfast: Alderwood mall’s Santa will be at Anthony’s Seafood Grill, 8-9:30 a.m. Dec. 7 and 14. Fill a Bus: The Stanwood-Camano School District transportation department is holding a Fill a Bus food drive for the Stanwood-Camano Food Bank. Cans For Christmas: The Allen family of Everett is holding a metal recycling drive to benefit Cocoon House. Donate aluminum cans and other metals through Dec. 31. All proceeds go to the Everett-based shelter for homeless and at-risk youth. Typhoon relief: The city of Lynnwood and the Diversity Commission are collecting personal hygiene products such as soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, and shampoo and first aid kits for the Philippine victims of Typhoon Haiyan. Drop-off bins are at the Lynnwood Recreation Center (18900 44th Ave. W.) and the Lynnwood Library (19200 44th Ave. W.) through the end of November. The supplies will be delivered to the Filipino Community Center of Seattle for shipment to Tocloban, Philippines.
Bikes for kids: Sharing Wheels Community Bike Shop is helping to get children’s bicycles ready to deliver to the nonprofit Christmas House, which in turn will give them to kids in Snohomish County. Giving Trees, Edmonds: The city of Edmonds is sponsoring Giving Trees for the Volunteers of America Western Washington at the Frances Anderson Center (700 Main St.) and City Hall (121 Fifth Ave. N.). Each tree is decorated with tags bearing the names of needy people. Just pull the tag and return the wrapped gift by Dec. 13. More info: 425-771-0231.
Tax preparers: United Way of Snohomish County seeks volunteers for its IRS-approved free tax preparation program in 2014. Volunteers receive training from United Way and will become certified by the IRS. Volunteer greeters and intake screeners also are needed. The deadline for volunteer registration is Saturday. Training will be held in December and January. Each volunteer will be asked to contribute three to five hours a week from Jan. 21 until April 15. More info: uwsc.org and click on “Volunteer.”

Coat drive: The Edmonds Yacht Club is holding a coat drive through December. Bring new or gently used coats, hats, scarves, gloves or socks to 326 Admiral Way, Edmonds. Donations benefit Clothes For Kids, a Lynnwood-based nonprofit. Infant, child and youth sizes are needed.
Host families: The nonprofit International Student Exchange and Cultural Academic Student Exchange seeks host families for foreign exchange students attending Snohomish County high schools from January to June and for the 2014-15 school year. Food and toys needed: The Marysville Community Food Bank and Toy Store seeks donations of food and new toys. Red barrels will be at more than 60 participating locations. Turkeys, hams, new toys, stocking stuffers, cash cards, candy and wrapping supplies also can be dropped off from 8 a.m.-noon Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays or 2-6 p.m. Tuesdays at the food bank, 4150 88th St. NE. Food bank pledges: Snohomish Community Food Bank seeks pledges for holiday meals and gifts. Christmas gifts need pledges of 25 quantity, by age and gender of a child, with delivery by Dec. 12. Farm volunteers: The Farm Outreach, 11212 92nd St. SE in Snohomish, plans its Miracle on 92nd Street Christmas program Dec. 8 for homeless children and their families and seeks volunteers to help set up and serve at the event. Enhance Fitness: The low-impact aerobics class for ages 50 and older runs 8:45-9:45 a.m. weekdays through Dec. 31 at the Carl Gipson Senior Center, 3025 Lombard Ave. in Everett. No experience needed. The current session started Nov. 27. Cost for the five-week session is $45 if attending five days each week, $30 if attending three days each week. Defensive driving: The Ken Baxter Community Center is taking registrations for an upcoming Defensive Driving Course open to adults age 55 and above.
