MONROE — Behind a 27-point performance from UW commit Kelli Kingma, the Jackson Timberwolves earned a 65-50 Wesco 4A road in over Monroe.
Jackson outscored Monroe 15-5 in the first quarter putting the Bearcats in an early hole and three 3-pointers in the fourth quarter sealed the deal for the Timberwolves
We just didn’t convert our opportunities,” Monroe head coach Matt Chalfant said. “We had shots we had to make. Jackson made shots and we didn’t”
Kingma’s five 3-pointers were too much for the Bearcats to handle, but they didnt make it easy on her. Monroe freshman Jadynn Alexander scored 10 points and had the assignment of guarding Kingma most of the night,
Chalfant was happy with his team’s defensive effort.
“There is nothing you can do when she is making shots,” Chalfant said. “She is a great shooter but I am proud of the way our team played defense. I tip my hat off to her (Kingma).”
