Save a Life Saturday: American Red Cross Snohomish County Chapter with Premera Blue Cross offer 30-minute compression-only CPR classes at 8, 9 and 10 a.m. Saturday at Embassy Suites Hotel, 20610 44th Ave. W., Lynnwood. Free to the first 500 people. Participants will learn hands-only CPR, care for choking victims, 911 emergency services, and information on how to stay safe during emergencies. Pancake breakfast: The North County Firefighters Association pancake breakfast is set for 6-11 a.m. Sunday at Stanwood Fire Station 99, 8117 267th St. NW. Tours of the trucks, public safety information and a bouncy house as well as the breakfast. Breakfast is by donation. Chicken dinner: The Stillaguamish Senior Center’s next chicken dinner is set for 12-2 p.m. Sunday. Cost is $9, $8 seniors, $5 ages 12 and younger. Proceeds benefit programs and services to senior citizens. Meal includes roasted chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, coleslaw, roll, drink and dessert. Breakfast, Edmonds: The Edmonds Senior Center offers a community breakfast, 8:30-9:30 a.m. April 4. The Senior Center is at 220 Railroad Ave. Menu includes pancakes, strawberry compote, eggs, ham, biscuits, sausage gravy, juice, coffee or tea. All are welcome. Cost is $5.

Breakfast, Snohomish: The Snohomish Senior Center holds a community breakfast, 8:30-10:30 a.m. April 5. Cost is $5 and includes bacon, ham, sausage, eggs, pancakes, French toast, biscuits and gravy, plus beverages. The Senior Center is at 506 Fourth St.

Killer Whale Tales: The San Juan killer whale show with biologist and photographer Jeff Hogan returns at 11 a.m. April 5 to the Northwest Stream Center, located in Snohomish County’s McCollum Park, 600 128th St. SE, Everett. Storytelling: Northwest Heritage Resources presents a performance of Native American storytelling by Roger Fernandes and Lois Landgrebe, 7 p.m. April 5 at Sultan City Hall, 319 Main St., in partnership with the Sultan Historical Society, the Sky Valley Chamber of Commerce and the Ethic Heritage Council. Fernandes is a member of the Lower Elwha Band of S’Klallam. Landgrebe is from Tulalip and of largely Snohomish heritage. Admission is $5 at the door. More info: 360-793-0983.

WAYS TO HELP

Oso donations: If you wish to help victims of the Oso mudslide, cash donations are preferred. The American Red Cross is no longer collecting items. Go to http://redcross.org/snoco to donate. People also can text “RedCross” to 90999 to make a $10 donation. United Way of Snohomish County also is gathering donations for a special fund; visit http://uwsc.org.

Oso fundraiser: The Spring Fling Fashion Show in Darrington now will be a fundraiser for the slide victims. The event is set for 5:30 to 8 p.m. April 12 and is $5 per person. Darrington youth will model fashions alongside an auction. Snacks and non-alcoholic drinks will be served. For tickets, call 425-320-6996.

Oso benefit: Sidekicks in Everett will host a benefit 8 p.m. to close Saturday with all donations going to mudslide victims in coordination with local nonprofit Christmas House. Music, auction, and more. Family friendly. More info: www.facebook.com/sidekicks.everett.

Senior Center auction: The Cascade Seniors Center’s annual “Happy Day” auction is set for Saturday at the Darrington Community Center, 570 Sauk Ave., with a potluck starting at noon. Relay for Life fundraisers: The Camano Center plans a pair of fundraising events to benefit the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life. A Line Dance for Life dance fundraiser is set for 2-4 p.m. Sunday at the Camano Center, 606 Arrowhead Road, Camano Island. Suggested donation is $5. A garage sale will be held 9 a.m.-3 p.m. April 5. Swim-a-Thon: West Coast Aquatics swimmers plan a Swim-a-Thon to raise funds that will help cover the nonprofit facility’s maintenance costs, save toward resurfacing the pool decks and offer swim scholarships. Swimmers ages 7 to 17 will swim for two hours or up to 200 lengths of the pool starting at 6 p.m. April 4. Easter bonnet volunteers: The Snohomish Chamber of Commerce Easter Parade Committee seeks volunteers to help organize the 2014 Easter Bonnet Contest, which will immediately follow the April 19 Snohomish Easter Parade. Work clothing, YWCA: The YWCA Working Women’s Wardrobe program needs personal care and feminine hygiene products and also large department store clothing bags. Donate clothing: Faith Lutheran Church, 6708 Cady Road in Everett, seeks help with its Community Meals program through donations of gently used or new cold-weather clothing, including boots, shoes, sweaters, coats, gloves and warm socks for both kids and adults. Help with wardrobes: Clothes For Kids, a Lynnwood nonprofit that provides wardrobes for low-income families, seeks volunteers to help sort clothes, stock shelves, assist shoppers and more. Enhance Fitness: Group Health Medicare members are invited to take a low-impact aerobics class for free. The class, for ages 50 and older, runs 8:45-9:45 a.m. weekdays in five-week sessions at the Carl Gipson Senior Center, 3025 Lombard Ave. in Everett. No experience needed. The current session runs through April 16; the next session is April 17-May 21. Non-Group Health Medicare members can take the class for $30 (three days a week for five weeks). Advance care planning: The Snohomish County Health Leadership Coalition offers “Your Life, Your Wishes” palliative care workshops at local YMCA branches. Space is limited and registration is required. Remaining sessions are set for 1:30-3:30 p.m. April 3 at the Monroe YMCA (360-805-1879), and 11:45 a.m.-1:45 p.m. May 2 at the Mukilteo YMCA (425-493-9622).

Tax help: Free tax return preparation for people of low and moderate income is available at seven Sno-Isle Libraries. The one-on-one assistance with individual federal tax returns is offered through the AARP Tax-Aide program at the Coupeville, Edmonds, Freeland, Lynnwood, Mountlake Terrace, Oak Harbor and Snohomish libraries.
