Prep Girls Soccer: Bellevue 2, Edmonds-Woodway 1

BELLEVUE — Bellevue’s Tracy Munk scored off a corner kick in the 62nd minute to give the Wolverines a 2-1 win over Edmonds-Woodway in a non-conference girls soccer match Thursday night.
After the Warriors failed to clear the initial corner kick, a Wolverine player struck a shot off the hands of E-W goalkeeper Kiera Towell before Munk put the rebound in the back of the net to give Bellevue the lead.
Bellevue’s Katie Foster broke a scoreless tie in the 10th minutes. But the Warriors bounced back and tied the game in the 32nd minute off the head of Ellie Schull. Riley Peterson sent a cross into the box and found Schull, tying the game at 1-1.
“Honestly I’m not really sure,” Warriors head coach Bill LeCompte when asked why the Warriors started slowly. “It was about thirty minutes in before we started to click like we should.
“When you give up (an early) goal like that, it’s kind of a wake-up call,” LeCompte added. “We made some substitutions and settled things down, that’s what started to turn it around.”
Even though he was satisfied with the way his team fought back, LeCompte was disappointed with the way his team came out the gate and said the Warriors have more in the tank as the season moves forward.
“The biggest thing for us is to focus on fixing the things we did poorly tonight,” LeCompte said. “Bellevue is a good team, but we didn’t play to our potential.”
The Warriors wrap up their non-conference schedule with a match against Ballard on Saturday.
