Prep football: Archbishop Murphy 48, Sultan 14

SULTAN — Taylor Gipson ran for a 75-yard touchdown and Nolan Rogge scored two touchdowns as Archbishop Murphy defeated Sultan in a Cascade Conference match Friday night.

“Speed kills,” Sultan head coach Ben Murphy said. “Archbishop is really fast this year. Their team has grown tremendously since last year. Some of those sophomores are straight up fast and have speed we can’t match.”

While the Turks came away with the loss, coach Murphy saw some positive signs in the game.

“Our kids never quit and that’s a positive sign …,” Murphy said. “Our receivers did well catching the ball. We’ve just got to finish and take opportunities when they present themselves.”
