Prep volleyball: Edmonds-Woodway 3, Arlington 1

ARLINGTON — Edmonds-Woodway kept pace with Shorewood atop the Wesco 3A volleyball standings with a win over Arlington on Tuesday.
The Warriors’ victory clinches a berth in the 3A District 1 tournament and sets up a meeting with Shorewood on Thursday for first place. After the Thunderbirds’ win over Glacier Peak, both teams go into Thursday’s match with 8-1 league records.
Amanda Paavola led the Warriors with 16 kills, 12 digs and three aces, and Missy Peterson chipped in 14 kills, three blocks and one dig. Edmonds-Woodway’s setter, Kelly Gootee, finished with 43 assists and 15 digs.
