ARLINGTON — The Shorewood girls soccer team earned a berth into the state tournament with a 1-0 road win over Arlington on Tuesday night in the 3A District 1 Playoffs.
“It was a great game,” Arlington head coach Nathan Davis said. “Credit to Shorewood they did a great job defensively.”
Lisa Jensen scored in the 33rd minute off a corner kick from Mikayla Morgan to break open the scoreless tie and give the T-birds a 1-0 lead.
Arlington entered Tuesday’s match having scored 19 goals in their previous six matches but they were unable to beat Shorewood goalkeeper Ashley Garay.
“Our goalie stepped up and made some of her best saves of the year,” Shorewood head coach Bill Wilkins said.
Shorewood will face Edmonds-Woodway/Ferndale in the 3A district championship on Saturday. Arlington will face Mountlake Terrace in the semifinal of the losers bracket on Thursday.
“We just need to keep our heads up and refocus,” Davis said.
