Prep boys basketball: Mariner 54, Shorewood 52

SHORELINE — Kevin Villalobos scored the final two of his team-high 18 points with eight seconds remaining to give Mariner a come from behind 54-52 victory over Shorewood in a non-conference matchup Saturday night.

The Marauders trailed by as many as 14 points in the third quarter before outscoring the T-birds 24-11 in the final period. Villalobos scored 11 points in the final quarter to lead the comeback.

“He just took over in the fourth quarter and pretty much carried the team,” Mariner head coach Eric Ensign said.

Brandon Mar led all scorers with 20 points for Shorewood (1-4 overall).

Jalen Hayes added 16 points for the Marauders.

“Its the second night in a row we had to comeback,” Ensign said. “One of these days I would like to see us put together four good quarters but we are building confidence as we go into league play.”
