Prep girls basketball: Jackson 55, Monroe 53

MILL CREEK — Imari Clinton knocked down the game-winning three-pointer with six seconds remaining to boost the Jackson girls basketball team to a 55-53 victory over Monroe in Wesco 4A action Wednesday night.
After Clinton’s 3-pointer the Timberwolves fouled Monroe and put the Bearcats on the free throw line. After knocking down the first, the Bearcats intentionally missed the second free throw but were unable to score off the rebound, and Jackson earned its third victory of the season.
Clinton finished with 15 points to lead the Timberwolves and Olivia Miller added 10. Every player that scored for Jackson had at least five points.
“(Clinton) played well within the team,” Jackson head coach Mark Haner said. “We scored the ball well collectively as a team and she scored well within the offense.”
The Bearcats also feautured a balanced offensive attack, led by Kylee Ferreira with a game-high 19 points, including three 3-pointers. Jadynn Alexander scored 16 and Amber Van Brunt added 11 for Monroe.
